Blue Bird

I found myself a blue bird
I think of teaching her to smile
She says the world revolves to slowly
For her to even try
She said have you ever heard
A politician cry?
Well tragedy breeds opportunity
When would they find the time

Blue bird
There's so much more to life
When will you learn to sing between the causes that you fight
Blue Bird
Take the time to fall in love
Realize you've got the right to spread your wings and fly

I was talkin' with my blue bird
Her heart is blanketed with frost
She said I can't take part in happiness
When laughter has a cost
She said do you know
The earth is seized in sawtooth corporate jaws?
I said if we believe than we will see
Change in environmental law

Blue bird
There's so much more to life
When will you learn to sing between the causes that you fight
Blue Bird
Take the time to fall in love
Realize you've got the right to spread your wings and fly

I was walkin' with my blue bird
She stopped and looked me in the eye
She said I guess the mess the planet is in
Can be slowly rectified
She leaned in to kiss me
And then her lips revealed a smile
She said I might need your help
I said aw hell you can count on me anytime
